What Are E-Labels?

E-Labels are digital labels that display the legally required ingredient and nutritional information for wine in a compliant, mobile-friendly format. They are a central part of recent EU legislation aiming to provide more transparency to consumers.

While the terms “E-Label” and “QR Code” are sometimes used interchangeably, they refer to two different elements.

  • QR Code: The square graphic pattern printed on a label that is a visual representation of a website URL. In this case, it links to the E-Label.

  • E-Label: A mobile-friendly landing page containing the legal information about your wine (ingredients, nutritional values, allergens, etc.). The E-Label is subject to strict EU guidelines.

Please refer to E-Labels Master Guide for details on how to create compliant E-Labels.
