Packaging Manufacturer

This applies to packaging placed on the market from 12 August 2026. What matters is when the packaging is first made available on the market, not when the wine was produced or bottled. Wine already placed on the market before that date is not affected.

The information itself is mandatory, but the e-label is only one of the permitted ways to provide it. It may also appear on the packaging, on another data carrier, or in an accompanying document. If your printed label already shows the name and postal address, the requirement is met — a QR code is not mandatory for this.
Do not confuse this with the harmonised labelling on material composition, which is the requirement that will mandate a QR code or other standardised data carrier. That applies later, from 12 August 2028 at the earliest.

Key Fields

Who is the Packaging Manufacturer?
The company that designs your packaging and whose name or trademark appears on it — usually your own winery or brand. This is different from the factory that physically produces your bottles, corks, or labels.

In the case of bulk or white label wine, the Packaging Manufacturer could be the retailer.

Add Packaging Manufacturer

In your e-label form under each e-label you will see under Packaging a section for the Packaging Manufacturer. (see bulk add below)

Name (name, registered trade name or registered trademark)

Postal Address

Email or Website (electronic means of communication)

Add Packaging Manufacturer for all your e-labels

Go to your e-labels. You might already see a update to add packaging manufacturer.

If you do not see this screen, click on Account in the bottom of the left hand menu. On the screen you will see Packaging Manufacturer, Click on the button Set Packaging Manufacturer.

The legislation and the deadline

From 12 August 2026, the EU's new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requires that certain packaging identification information be made available to consumers — either printed on the packaging itself, or through a digital data carrier such as a QR code.

Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste (“PPWR”) applies from 12 August 2026.Article 15(2)“Manufacturers shall indicate on the packaging or on a QR code or another data carrier their name, registered trade name or registered trademark as well as the postal address at which and, where available, the electronic means of communication by which they can be contacted. Where that is not possible, the required information shall be provided as part of the information through the QR code or other type of standardised, open, digital data carrier as referred to in Article 12(1), (2), (4) or (5) or in a document accompanying the packaged product. The postal address shall indicate a single point at which the manufacturer can be contacted.” |
